Hello 你好, and welcome to my website! I am currently on the academic job market and grateful for your interest in my work.

I am a PhD candidate in Economic History at the London School of Economics (LSE), supervised by Prof. Kent Deng and Prof. Olivier Accominotti.

My research interests lie in monetary and financial history, central banking, and historical banking and currency crises, with a particular focus on China and the Southeast Asian region.

My doctoral thesis traces the origins and development of Chinese banking over a span of 1,000 years—from 618 to 1911. Through this work, I aim to answer why China, once the world’s leading economy, eventually fell behind Europe and did not develop modern capitalism.
